Microblading Info: Q & A
General Info: Microblading is a manual skill of semi-permanent eyebrow drawing. Brow shape is carefully calculated while eyes are closed to relax the muscles that affect brow’s symmetry. Strokes are always drawn in the direction of natural hair growth to achieve a hyper-realistic look, and in a brow with few natural hairs, manual technique is combined with a machine to create shadows and improve brow volume. Treatment is ALWAYS performed with disposable sterile tools.
HEALING PROCESS: 70% of treatment success lies in the post treatment care you should carefully adhere to, otherwise up to 80% of the strokes may disappear. Please allow skin 7-10 days to heal. During this process it’s normal for brows to be patchy and for some strokes to disappear, but don’t be alarmed as it takes the pigment roughly 4 weeks to resurface. During the healing, eyebrows will appear bold and darker than the final result. The color will decrease by 40-50% and the thickness by roughly 15% when the skin has healed and pigment is sealed.
AVOID UNTIL HEALED: Water from the shower and other sources. Makeup products on eyebrows. Don’t work out for 8 hours. Sleeping on the face post treatment. Direct sun exposure. Don’t pick and scratch brows.
AVOID BEFORE APPOINTMENT: Don’t tan. No laser hair removal in the area. Don’t consume fish oil, alcohol, or vitamin C (blood thinners).Do not tweeze or pick at area. No facials 2 weeks prior. No Botox 3 weeks prior. Don’t work out before procedure. No aspirin 2 days prior. No brow tint or wax 7 days prior.
Please do not have makeup on or around the brow area during the appointment. It is highly recommended you apply makeup after skin has fully healed to avoid infection or slow down healing.
NORMAL, DRY, and COMBO SKIN: 30 min – 1 hour after treatment wash brows with luke-warm water, pat dry, and apply the aftercare gel with a cotton tip. 24 hours after the treatment gently wash the aftercare gel off with luke-warm water. Pat dry and begin to apply a thin layer of Bepanthen or A&D every 3 hours until eyebrows are healed.
OILY SKIN: 30 min – 1 hour after treatment wash brows with luke-warm water. Repeat every hour for the next 5 hours. Apply a thin layer of Bepanthen or A&D morning or night starting on the third day.
PAIN CONCERNS: Prior to microblading, brow area is numbed for at least 30 min with a numbing cream. Your discomfort level during the procedure will depend on your personal pain threshold. If you know it to be low, we recommend taking a pain reducer prior (advil, iboprofen, etc) but do not drink alcohol as it will increase bleeding.
TOUCH UP: 4-8 weeks after the initial procedure, a touch up will be necessary as some ink will be rejected, and some strokes will need to be refilled. Also, the pigment color might need a slight adjustment after settling in the skin. People with oily skin often require a deeper shade during the touch up because oils tends to lighten the pigment. The procedure itself takes 1.5 to 2 hours. Color extent depends on the oil levels of skin. The oilier the skin – the shorter the color duration. Typically, after the touch up the ink lasts 1-3 years.
